About Us:
Core Control Pilates Instructors:
Core Control Pilates, Inc. is owned and operated by Romana’s
Pilates Certified instructor, Brenna Santoro.
Brenna Santoro
Brenna attended Old Dominion University on academic and athletic scholarships
where she graduated with honors with a degree in Finance and Economics. An
avid Pilates student since January 2002, Brenna discovered Pilates her final
semester of college
When she graduated, Brenna’s goal was to gain work
experience in the financial world and then further her education
by receiving her M.S. in international economics. Brenna
received offers to work for the Federal Reserve branch in
Richmond , Virginia , and locally with several banks. However,
during this decision process Brenna became more and more
intrigued with Pilates.
After doing Pilates for only nine months, Brenna felt a “calling
to the work,” and, as they say, the rest is history.
She went to New York City fall of 2002 and was evaluated
for the Certification Program. After scoring at the top of
her peer group, Brenna was asked to move to New York City
to complete her training with master teachers Romana Kryzanowska
and Sari Mejia Santos.
She began in January 2003. Brenna’s advancement through
the program was exceptional. After only three months, she
was advised by both of her master instructors that she was
ready to complete her final practical and written examinations.
She received her certification in April 2003 and moved
back to Virginia Beach where she continued to share her love
of Pilates with the community. By May of 2004, she was ready
to advance further in the Pilates world. On June 1, 2004
Core Control Pilates, LLC, was born.
Nancy Hodges
Nancy Hodges has been a lifelong Virginia Beach resident. She is a graduate of First Colonial High School and the University of Virginia. She and her husband John enjoyed many years of participating in triathlons before the birth of their two children.
Nancy became interested in Pilates while training for her first marathon. She began to understand that the Pilates Method was a perfect compliment to all life's activities. Nancy wanted to share her passion for Pilates with others, so she enrolled in the IITP certification program at Romana's Pilates in New York City, New York.
Upon successfully completing her training and apprenticeship, Nancy proudly accepted a position at Core Control Pilates where she continues to share her love of Pilates with interested and enthusiastic clients.
Reid Strasma
Reid
received a BA in Liberal Arts from DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana. He then went on to study massage at the Chicago School of Massage Therapy. Upon completing his studies there, Reid moved to Seattle, where he discovered Pilates.
A friend took him to his first session, a Pilates mat class. Determined to get better at this unique form of exercise, Reid began taking private sessions and was soon asked to participate in the certification program. He was certified in 1997 through Romana’s Pilates.
After his certification, Reid taught in Seattle. He has been an instructor in Virginia Beach since 1999 and loves the area. Reid is excited to join Brenna and Nancy at Core Control Pilates, and to serve our ever growing group of clients.
Mary Delk
Mary received a BA in Journalism and Mass Communications from the University of South Carolina. Following graduation, she worked in advertising in Charleston, South Carolina. Mary moved to Virginia Beach, VA in 2001. She became interested in Pilates before the birth of her first son and after running the NYC marathon. Mary wanted to strengthen her core to avoid any injuries from running. Recognizing the benefits of this training, she started Pilates. She was excited about the many benefits of Pilates; improved health, better and more confident posture and no more running injuries! This excitement led Mary to become a certified instructor so that she can share this enthusiasm with others. She enrolled into the IITP certification program after her second son was born and is eager to teach all ages and levels at Core Control Pilates.
